What happens when you combine a college campus and thousands of runners and walkers with a blast of color, a heap of happiness, a pinch of passion and a splash of spontaneity? Say hello to Run or Dye.
Inspired by the ancient Hindu festival of Holi, Run or Dye is the world’s most colorful 5K. Throughout the course participants at “Dye Stations” are showered in safe, eco-friendly, plant-based washable powder that can be customized with the school’s colors. The result is that participants are transformed into an over-the-top canvas of color. Run or Dye wouldn’t be complete without the pace runner and who better to lead the pack then the school’s mascot?
Just when you thought it couldn’t possibly be any more exciting, participants cross the finish line and find themselves in the middle of a Dye Festival. The event is a dance party which can include the school’s marching band and cheerleaders and is a celebration of diversity where participants Tie-Dye the Sky and their friends with the color packet received at registration. Run or Dye makes a point to create a safe and welcoming experience for everyone on campus regardless of age, race, gender, class, religion, disability and/or sexual orientation.
Run or Dye provides everything required to ensure the event is a success on the campus and in the community. The Run or Dye team provides customized marketing materials, including posters, flyers and postcards, a high-impact teaser video to get people excited, a Facebook event page, Facebook posts on the national Run or Dye group page (which has over a million members), an opportunity to have a booth at the run, an exciting recap video and a photo album–perfect for social media. The mobile-optimized event page includes the school logo and gives participants the ability to register, view the route map, volunteer and share updates on social media.
Run or Dye performs “Random Acts of Color” by leaving the world a friendlier and fitter place. Run or Dye partners with charities and non-profits in each community and makes a donation to local organizations. What started off as a creative idea has become one of the most popular race series in the world. Run or Dye participants say it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that brings the campus and community together and is the most fun they’ve ever had exercising.
Ready to live life in full color? Bring Run or Dye to your campus. We promise you haven’t lived until you’ve dyed running!
