A native of Philadelphia, Anthony began teaching and choreographing at age 14 as a student at Point Breeze Performing Arts Center. Anthony’s extraordinary talent was evident even then; he received and Emerging Choreographer Award and was later appointed Resident Choreographer for the school.
Anthony attended Franklin Learning Center, studying with Horton master, Faye Snow. While in high school, he danced professionally with Eleone, KTM/Extreme, Danco 2 (the second company of Philadanco), Koresh, and Prism, in addition to studying at the Pennsylvania Ballet and The National School of Ballet in Lima, Peru. Before entering college, Anthony was a National Gold Medalist for the NAACP ACT-SO Competition in Dance as well as a guest artist with the Bermuda Dance Company. During his freshman year as a student on a Promising Artist Scholarship at the University of the Arts, Anthony left the university to join Ailey II, the second company of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Â During his time with Ailey II, Anthony taught master classes at universities and other dance institutions across the country.
After a year with Ailey II, he joined Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (AAADT), touring nationally and internationally with the company for five years. During his time with the Alvin Ailey, he set choreography on Ailey members and was described by reviewer Jennifer Dunning as a choreographer to watch.
After achieving his life-long dream of dancing with Alvin Ailey, Anthony went on to experience success as a dancer in the music industry. As dancer and dance captain with recording artist Beyonce and Destiny’s Child, Anthony has appeared on several television programs including Good Morning America and The Oprah Winfrey Show. He was featured as a dancer on DVD titles including Jay-Z’s Fade to Black and Beyonce’s Live at Wembly. Most recently, Anthony was featured in the music video S.O.S. by popular recording artist Rihanna.
In 2007, as Rihanna’s “Girl Like Me “ tour approached its end, Anthony was invited back as the dance captain on “The Beyonce Experience” – world tour. He accepted the amazing opportunity. After 9 months of intensive traveling, he’s returned home to choreograph works for several recording artists, teach master classes, and pursue a career in TV/Film.
